Week 4: RSS Feeds

Hey there, y'all!

I set up a Bloglines account about a week and a half ago, but have only managed to remember to check it twice. Some of the things that I subscribed to were LibraryBytes, the Shifted Librarian, Librarian's Internet Index, and this goofy little library cartoon called Unshelved. I am still getting the hang of it. I am trying to break the habit of automatically going to the sites I am interested in and looking for what I want.

I really enjoy the concept that you can have all of the information that you subscribed to sent to one spot. It can be really useful especially for library internet users that only have a limited amount of time on the internet a day. With the RSS feeds, they can subscribe to what they want to be kept up to date on and check the one site as opposed to usintg their time allotments wading through ads.

Week #5

Hi everyone! Yes, I DO know that I skipped 4 for now, but I reckoned that because I already generated an image for myself that I would go ahead and play around with the Library Thing. Take a look!

Poems, as per request...

Hi there! There was a request for me to post some of my poetry, so here goes. The first one I wrote just for fun and to help convey to some of my friends why I write. The other two were "situation inspired".

Enjoy and please be gentle! :-D

My Words
I write because I need to, words are in my veins.
Cut me to the heart, and verses it will rain.
They pour forth, flooding, flooding down.
The daft and the weak, my words they will drown.
My words are my refuge, my shelter from the storms.
Words are my armor, to protect me from the hordes.
Life is a battle, unrelenting and unyielding;
My words are my breastplate, my sword and my shielding.
My words can cut you deep, deeper than any knife.
My words give me power; they are the source of my life.
My words give me courage, and strength against despair.
Strip away my words, and my soul will be left bare.
Words are my existence, my very reason to be;
With the strength of my words, from nothing will I flee.

Playground
Black ochre around her eyes.
Painted jeans hugging thighs.
Lips redder than the Corvette she'd been inlast night.
Hair bleached to translucent white.
Every night, newfound innocence played;
One more lure to get paid.
Turns her head as a cop rides by.
No remorse. No tears. No sigh.
Readjusts her breasts in a shirt too small,
Showing too much, but not all.
Against the light pole she seductivly leans.
She's only a child; she's only fifteen.

Cinderella Abandoned
The castle's burned.
The crown long gone.
Neither prince nor knight,
To carry her home.
No footmen, no mice,
No pumpkin-coaches.
Godmother vanished,
Like glass slippers and gold broaches.
Barefoot, proud,
Yet beautiful still,
Alone she walks
In the moonlit chill.
Loneliness constant,
Never leaving or bending.
Searching constantly,
For her happy ending...
